GUARUJÁ
THE CITY

Guarujá is known as the "Pearl of the Atlantic" and is located on the coast of São Paulo, just 80 km from São Paulo, with easy access via the modern Imigrantes Highway. The city offers complete infrastructure to meet visitors with various options for leisure, accommodation, and gastronomy and enchants with its beautiful beaches, landscapes, and unparalleled natural beauty.

For those who visit the city, we can suggest some historical points:

Forte dos Andradas
Forte dos Andradas
The construction was inaugurated in 1942 and highlights the tunnels with old military installations and elevators for transporting ammunition to the cannons. It has a panoramic view of the Moela Islands, the beaches of Guarujá, and the Bay of Santos. Visits take place on weekends and holidays and need to be scheduled in advance.

Forte São Luiz
Forte São Luiz / São Felipe
Located at the extreme north of Guarujá, Forte São Luiz / São Felipe was built in the 16th century at the request of Braz Cubas, a Portuguese nobleman who came to Brazil with Martim Afonso de Souza, considered the founder of the city of Santos, with the aim of defending the territory from attacks coming from the sea. Its first gunner was the German Hans Staden, who lived part of his adventurous life there and who, for 9 months, was a prisoner of the Tupinambá Indians, by whom he was almost devoured. In 1965 it was declared a heritage site by IPHAM. Access is via the White Beach Trail, starting near the Guarujá-Bertioga ferry.
Forte do Itapema
Forte do Itapema
The Itapema Fortress, as it is now known (partly forgotten are the names of the Pinhão da Vera Cruz Fortress and the Santa Cruz Fortress, or even Santa Cruz), has no known date of construction. It is the only historical-military monument located in the Municipality of Guarujá, constituting one of the oldest buildings in Brazil, built in the 16th century, with the purpose of defending the port of Santos, as well as serving as a lighthouse.
Fortaleza da Barra Grande
Fortaleza da Barra Grande
The Fortress of Santo Amaro da Barra Grande, also known as the Fortress of São MiQuel and the Fortress of Barra Grande, is located southeast on the island of Santo Amaro, between Góes Beach and Santa Cruz dos Navegantes Beach, facing the Barra Grande, the access channel to the port of the village (now city) of Santos.
Ermidas do Guaibê
